Dear All Well the winter has set in and we have already had some snow. We are in the process of building an ice rink quite a large one. The water which we put on by means of buckets freezes after a few hours. We have received from the Red Cross a large consignment of skates about two prs per room of [censored text] so we should have a good time when the rink is completed. The weather is probably as cold or colder than any English winter already but it is a dry cold, crisp, and frosty, and instead of staying indoors it invigorates one. In fact I far prefer it to the heat of the mid European Summer. However this is only the beginning of the winter my mind may change as we get into the New Year. We look forward to Christmas with mixed feelings. We have a large jug of Pure Alcohol distilled from raisins and sugar in the drinking of which we hope to forget everything for a while
Love to you all
John
