We were pleased to get home.
C and I went for a walk to the Stadtpark in the evening—it was lovely and we enjoyed it immensely. It is a beautiful park with dark tall trees, deep lakes, and white columns and statues. It is only about 4 minutes walk from here.
Margaret arrived at the Friedrichstrasse at 6:0 p.m. and after waiting three hours and a half for Gert, came on here at 10 o’clock.
C & I were just back in time to meet her and were overjoyed to see her again. She told us of her very exciting experiences on the railway from Königsberg. All the women had been advised to go to the centre of Germany, as there would be a good deal of hard fighting in East Prussia and the Russians are known to be such brutes to women and children. She didn’t know what had happened to Gert and the two dogs he was bringing with him.
