August 10. 1914 Monday
Papers are still full of the victory at Liège. It is reported that a Zeppelin airship dropped 13 bombs on the fortresses, 12 of which bombs had effect.
Montenegro has declared war on Austria! (I am sure that we all feel that things must be extraordinarily serious and have become singularly perilous since Montenegro declared war)?
8:30 p.m. It has been reported that the XIth Army corps are near Belfort—have defeated a French Division of 20,000 men at Mülhausen and have taken 1,500 French prisoners.
Didn’t go out for a walk with C this evening. She always asks if anyone wishes to come with us—and Margaret and Lillie always jump at the invitation.
