she was eighteen.
Only eighteen! What a relief! Well I have not altogether been stupid and am going to hope.
I won’t go about things as other men do—I shall hide my feelings as long as possible and act as chaperone—how horrible!
We arrived at Brandenburg and spent the night in a dear little hotel. Played the piano and danced with C for the first time, in the old “Rathaus”.
She is a divine dancer. But I must not forget that I am chaperoning Dittmann & C. D. has been so nice arranging this trip and has done it all for C. —I musn’t spoil it—I must wait till he has gone.
