as I will mostly likely give up the idea of going to Oxford again—and travel to Italy, France and America, before my examination. If I take up Spanish, I could learn almost as much in Mexico or even Eagle Pass.
I should so like to see Eagle Pass—it must be a dear little place.
I am sure Charlotte, that God has protected you all along—it is wonderful to think of the great Power of His everlasting presence—Love’s everlasting presence.
Do write and tell me how your father is, won’t you? And mind you write and tell me what you are doing—and all about your journey—and the nice young men you meet, and whether you have lost your heart or not?
I feel sure you will go and marry some American cavalry officer, and forget your cousin entirely—that’s what girls are you know—they mean things for a time—and so do some men.
I am sure you will be engaged by the time you write to me next—but you really must write—and if you don’t write to me, write to mother, as I do so badly want to know, what has happened to you.
