My dear Clive,
I heard two days ago from my mother the news about Gerald. It's awfully bad luck. I was rather anxious when I heard that the SRB had been in it, and I am not surprised to hear that he has caught it at last. He was out for such a long time you see.
It's rotten luck being captured. But it's better than being killed, and we know he's safe til the end of the war, which perhaps won't be so long now.
As soon as you get any more news of him you must let me know, also what sort of wound he got. It'll be upt o us to keep on sending parcels as soon as we hear where he is as food is apt to be scarce there. Poor old Gerald has had very bad luck, quite out of all proportion to the good work he's done.
It feeds me up to hear of his misfortune when other people who've done nothing to speak of get soft jobs and comfort. However.
No news from here except that we're having a very quiet time. Please write soon.
Yours (?)
Angus
