August 3rd 1914 Monday
We have since heard that France has declared war on Germany and has moved her troops across the German frontier.
I went to the British Embassy and talked with Thomas. I was told things were safe--thereby meaning that England's policy would very probably be neutral.
All through the town, reserves are being called in.
Wrote a letter to C and let her read it. I seem to see so little of her nowadays--Margaret gets on too well with her.
We arranged to go for a walk to the Tiergarten to-morrow morning.
Darling C, she makes me feel so very unhappy sometimes.
