Peter R. Saunders

Peter Saunders is currently a director of Saunders Associates, a literary agent representing academic authors. He was owner-publisher of Garamond Press for twelve years. He co-founded the company in the early 1980s. Garamond was purchased by Broadview Press Ltd. of Calgary in 2005 and now operates as an imprint of The University of Toronto Press.
Saunders commenced his career in publishing in export sales in the U.K. with Cassell & Co. and The Bodley Head. He emigrated to Canada and worked in college sales for Longman Canada and McClelland & Stewart through the 1970s, becoming a partner in Fernwood Books Ltd. in 1979.
He has been responsible for the publication of many books in the social sciences and humanities, and is a leading advocate of independent academic book publishing.
