Notes
Drancy
Situated in the outskirts of Paris, Drancy is probably the most well-known French internment
camp. Opened in August 1941, Drancy will be the transit camp for most of the Jews sent to
Auschwitz, Majdanek and the other extermination camps. Between June 1942 and August
1944, 62 trains filled with men, women and children will leave Drancy for German extermination
camps. Resistance members will also be interned in Drancy.
