scattered on the floor are sufficient proof to the bombastic threatening questioning Gestapo as he explains his innocent gambling and they leave satisfied. Whereupon the thread is brought out of his mouth and the button is sewn on. He leaves a grateful happy man with a new lease on life and with European courtesy takes his leave and makes his way down the dark corridors. As he leaves the main door he stretches his arms in a gesture of exultant freedom and victory so splitting the entire seam of the coat. Knowing the utter impossibility of procuring so much more thread he despondently lopes out with half a cloak on each arm dragging in the dirt, a frustrated seeker of forbidden fruit.
