Dear All—Especially Mother & Doreen. Many happy Returns of the Day Mother and I hope this will arrive by July 17th so Doreen may have my good wishes—Love on her 26th Birthday—Received a letter from the Admiralty today confirming my Rank of Lieut as from Nov 3rd 43. Please will you pay a further £4-10-0 to Mr B.M. Watene—Bank of New Zealand 1, Queen Victoria Street, London this will pay for my laundry up to May 1st. I hope you paid in the other money to his account about four months ago will you please confirm this—I pay him 5/ a week to do all my laundry and believe you me it is well worth it. I am getting quite good at my art class and it is one of the things here that keeps me very interested. I have already done quite a number of portraits and thanks to the help of a commercial artist of high repute I have a waiting list of fellows wishing to sit for me—I have not done any painting yet but am getting well versed in the drawing side of art—well Cheerio folks. Keep Smiling.
Love
John
