Dearest Bertie,
I have just come through 20 days of living on nothing but wild mushrooms and substitute coffee – but that is now past and gone and I feel quite rich as a result: having just got a month’s allowance from my bank and still having some of it in hand....
... some of us … might be allowed to travel to England.… The only thing I felt I wanted to go back for, was to do propaganda for Finland in the newspapers: and remembering our position in the last war, felt doubtful that anyone would listen to anything one said – in their present mood....
