This morning's airmail from you was the first news from you in some time and I was pleased to hear you are enjoying your holiday at Watruous.
News, as is usual, is not too plentiful. Last evening Jimmie Kuss -- who is now stationed about seven or eight miles from here -- rode over to visit us. I showed him my collection of snaps which he certainly enjoyed looking at. Saturday evening Bain and I rode into town and spent the evening dancing.
Last Sunday was my day off so Peanly [?] and I spent the weekend at Scarboro, the nearest seaside resort. We had the usual violent struggle to get on the train -- preceded by queueqing to get a ticket -- on Saturday afternoon. All the hotels and boarding houses were full so we spent the night in an air-raid shelter sleeping -- or trying to sleep on the benches. Were were up about four in the morning pacing the streets and watching the waves lapping on the seashore.
Fortunately there was not rain so we had a pleasant day on the crowded beach. In fact,
