D. was furious (inwardly).
Pressed C’s hand but had no effect. Oh! a waltz, a waltz with C., nothing more Divine is imaginable— the world is forgotten—Heaven No. 7 appears and the moon smiles— … but I must not forget that I am chaperoning the two consonants.
Return to the villa and drop into bed.
My eyes close, the notes of the “valse bleu” ring softly in my ears, I press C’s hand (imagined) and drop off into the land of happy slumbers.

I Wish Guy was here. We all went to the races. I won 10 marks but returned home early with mother. The whole court of Mecklenburg were present at the races.
