Oct. 30th. 1916
Your letter came this morning before I was up, and Louie brought it to me in bed. It was lovely to start the day with its message of love. I was going to write you to-day anyway. I finished my course at Oxford on Friday, and am now here on leave waiting gazettement -- probably for a couple of weeks or so.
This is a picture of myself with two of my friends Skilling and Porter. They came across with me, but were transfered from Oxford to the artillery school at St. John's Wood, where this was taken in London.
Best wishes to all the Halifax friends.
