Miss Marion Simpson -
This little note is a very poor medium of expressing my gratitude and conveying my thanks to you for the very, very, comfy pair of socks which contained your letter.
I was "Plumb tickled" (excuse slang) to receive them, and sad to confess I needed them badly.
It was sure good of you to send them, and spend the time making them. It must be a tedious job at the best, and I am sure not nearly so interesting or exciting as a trip on the lake or a tramp in the woods.
It is little things like this, your gift and the kindly thought that prompted it, that make things seem worth the while to us out here.
Again thanking you Girlie for your kindness and assuring you of the solid comfort I am deriving from your gift.
